KINYEREZI I POWER PLANT (150 MW)

Committed to Africa’s sustainable development in the power sector, we supported TANESCO in the development of the 150 MW Kinyerezi 1 Power Plant, an important milestone for the continued growth in the Tanzanian energy sector.

The power plant is located in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam and can operate both on natural gas and jet fuel, powered by four LM6000PF dual fuel Gas Turbine Generators. Kinyerezi 1 power plant adds 150 MW to the national grid, thus helping close the gap between Tanzania’s energy capacity and requirements.

Combining the skill sets and experience of our entire workforce, we conducted mechanical, electrical, and piping works for the installation of 4, 2, 6 nos of step-up, step-down, and chiller transformers respectively, 220kV switchyard, HV equipment and 8 x control panels and cabling and 4 x generators.

Now fully operational, the powerplant helps in curbing the country’s recurrent power shortages and remains a reliable power supply, crucial for the country’s economic growth. Access to energy enables manufacturers to produce continuously, hence creating more employment.
