Based in Kenya and reporting to the Project Manager and to the Regional Operations Manager, the QA/QC Manager will manage and oversee project quality to ensure compliance to codes, standards, regulations, equipment specific specifications, ISO certifications and IMS requirements. Advancing quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities

Operational

- Managing and overseeing project quality to ensure compliance to codes, standards, regulations, equipment specific specifications, ISO certifications and IMS requirements

- Advancing quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization, through establishment of new processes, procedures and policies or through re-engineering of existing processes, procedures and policies (subject to approval of the Management and within the IMS framework)

- Managing the development and implementation of the IMS for planning, fabrication, inspection, documentation, and operations activities including:

  • Planning duties within the QA/QC staff and related work schedules;
  • Establishing service standards for end users (i.e., internal department or external customer);
  • Identifying and developing QA/QC personnel certification requirements and continuing education/training needs;
  • Providing leadership, mentorship, and direction of all QA/QC personnel.

- Developing and implementing risk-based inspection (RBI) activities and processes, using API 580 and other similar programs to develop internal standard practices.

- Managing plant integrity through a failure analysis reporting system and following up on recommendations.

- Overseeing supervision of all visual inspections and NDE, including 3rd party subcontractors.

- Managing inspection, NDE, and testing plans for new construction, repair work, and alterations.

- Identifying and developing solutions to correct inspection function deficiencies.

- Managing construction processes, plant equipment, inspection and NDE personnel certification and IMS internal audits.

- Preparing QA Manual, control and supervision of all amendments and revisions

- Monitoring all quality related activities on the project

- Attending to client quality management meetings

Planning and Commercial

- Developing and executing a Quality Strategy that Advances quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.

-Supporting the Planning and Commercial teams on the elaboration of new proposals and tender documents.

People

- Training, coaching and managing performance effectively and continuously both with internal staff and consultants.

- Being an ambassador for the business purpose and culture

- Ensuring a culture of integrity and commitment to the clients, staff and all stakeholders associated with the business.

Reporting & Analysis

- Establishing and agreeing on the standard, level and frequency of reporting required from the project teams

- Ensuring that all document control reports are prepared and issued in accordance with Project Coordination Procedures

Budget management

- Supporting project management with the budget set-up, cost control and reporting

HSEQ & ESG

- Aligning role with HSEQ and ESG standards of the company

- Being a champion of health, safety, environment, quality and sustainability across the business

 

Compliance

- Ensuring compliance with Company policies and standard operating procedures

- Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations

 

Perform any other duties assigned by the Management.

Qualifications

Education: University degree in either Engineering, or similar discipline.

Work experience: Knowledge about the project planning and leading the team, development of QAQC documentation, QAQC standards, protocols and implementation, liaising with the client in relation to QAQC requirements.

Computer skills: Competent level in Microsoft Office Tools and aptitude for ICT applications

Language: Fluent in written and spoken English.
