Promoting gender equality: CSI Energy Group signs the United Nations Women’s Principles

As the global spotlight on gender equality grows brighter, CSI Energy Group takes a pivotal step forward by embracing the United Nations Women’s Principles. Highlighting our dedication to empowering women, especially within Africa's energy sector, this move promises a brighter, more inclusive future for the industry. Dive in to discover more about this initiative.

Furthering its dedication to gender equality and female empowerment, CSI Energy Group proudly announces its alignment with the United Nations Women’s Principles (WEPs). This move solidifies the group's allegiance to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: Gender Equality.

In the same vein, the WEPs will provide CSI Energy Group with an ideal comprehensive framework forged by impactful guidelines into pursuing its commitment. This not only seeks to empower women in the energy domain but also actively supports women-led ventures throughout Africa's value chain.

“When thinking about the future of the energy sector in Africa, we can't overlook the instrumental role that women play in driving its success. Women possess huge potential to shape the direction of our industry, bringing diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and invaluable skills to the table. As we commit to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment, we recognise that promoting women's participation for a sustainable future is not just a matter of fairness, but also an economic imperative”, says Chris Glasson, CEO of CSI Energy Group.

Established by United Nations Women and the United Nations Global Compact, the WEPs are based on international labour and human rights standards. They are comprised of 7 fundamental principles which emphasize the case for corporate actions to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. The seven core principles, reflecting true-to-life business behaviors and insights from worldwide contributions, underline the corporate world's pivotal role in advocating for gender parity and women’s rights.

“By joining the WEPs community, we aim at working collectively in multi-stakeholder networks to foster business practices that empower women. By breaking down barriers and promoting women’s leadership and entrepreneurship, we create a ripple effect that extends far beyond our own organisation, touching the lives of countless individuals and driving success on multiple fronts. Our commitment will resonate with tangible actions within the organisation and continuous monitoring”, says Chris Glasson.
