You'll be the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring smooth and accurate transactions.

 

Based in Mauritius and reporting to the Group Accountant, the Finance Assistant will be responsible to maintain the integrity of accounting data for the group to ensure the availability of financial data on a timely basis.

Key responsibilities

Accounting Records

 

  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of Purchase request, Purchase order, Supplier invoices, Customer invoicing and
  • processing of journals
  • Entering Customer receipts, Supplier payments and other bank transactions and performing bank reconciliations
  • Ensuring that VAT codes and Project codes are correctly input
  • Reviewing and reconciling Debtor and Creditor Accounts (including prepayments and accruals)
  • Petty cash returns and reconciliations
  • Performing a variety of accounting reconciliations including group inter-company accounts
  • Assist in the month-end account closing activities.

 

Reporting

 

  • Daily cashflow reporting
  • Preparation of the monthly and quarterly management accounts
  • Performing an initial review to identify and escalate reporting discrepancies or control issues.
  • Completing monthly tasks checklists, particularly to ensure that processing and reconciliations and controls are complete.
  • Assisting in preparation of the Annual Financial Statements of subsidiary companies

 

Further duties and responsibilities include:

 

  • Assisting in Year-end Audit, ensuring all information and supporting documents are electronically available and provided to
  • auditors in accordance with the agreed timeframe
  • Loading of payments on Internet Banking and ensuring that all supplier payments are made as per agreed terms
  • Prepare VAT returns and reconciliation.
  • Assisting others in the Finance Team with any other duties as required
  • Assist in the budget preparation.
  • Assist the group accountant towards the preparation of the financial statements.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum HSC or equivalent, relevant qualification or ACCA Level 1
  • Minimum 2 years in similar position
  • SAP, Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • English and French
